Friends for-"heifer"

Today was "udderly" divine for my kids. Our "moo"-valous day started by the kids helping me make cow costumes. This was a must of our day to begin. We took out the kitchen trash bags, cut a hole in the top, two holes on the sides (one hole on each side) and drew black spots on them with Sharpies. This was for our big lunch with "moo" kids on the block---Taylor and Clover Cowell. Melanie was coming to pick us up at noon. We printed off some cow face masks and cut out some extra black construction paper spots. We were ready when Melanie came. We cow piled the herd into the van after suiting up as cows. We were off to our lunch destination: Chick-Fil-A.

Today was Cow Appreciation Day. That's right all who dressed as cows were awarded with any combo meal of their choice free of charge. With Melanie's two kids and my four kids we would have spent about $50 for the amount of food we ate free.

Preston was so brave and didn't scream bloody murder when the Chick-Fil-A cow was greeting cows (people) as they entered Chick-Fil-A. This is a HUGE deal if you know Preston and his fear of overly-large heads.
It was so awesome that when we went to order it was none other than Tiffany Heupal taking our food order. She got a good laugh at us. She did tell us that we were way smart for using trash bags. I think she may have even used the word "clever." Yeah, I am clever---or I actually read the Chick-Fil-A's website costume suggestions, either one. Whatever, minor details. I'll take being clever.
The free food was great. Really is there any better tasting food than free food? And eating at a place where it doesn't matter if the children spill a hundred times. It is always nice to eat at the food joint too...bringing home fast food is a pain since it fills up my trash can in the matter of minutes. So eating out is wonderful!

The kids all got their own kids meals. Hey, I am cheap and so my kids don't get their own kids meals very often. This is a splurge item...a drink and fries?? Wow! This was their lucky day. And all they had to do was dress up like a cow! In public! No problem! In fact, for my kids who are obsessed with dressing up...this was a dream come true! To be rewarded for dressing up with free food! Awesome. Being allowed out of the house in dress up clothes would have been reward enough for my kids. A free kids meal was just over the top!

After we were all pretty full and the kids had burned plenty of calories in the kiddie play area, we headed to our next stop.....for dessert! *On a side note, Clover won for eating the most chicken at lunch. The girl chowed her kids meal, Derek's kids meal, and most of Chloe's kids meal. She rocked it 2 year old style.

Yep, we hit the local 7/11. Hey, it's July 11th (or 7/11/08) so it's free slurpee day too! That's right, we didn't pay for lunch so shoot--we weren't gonna pay for dessert either! Ha ha. We were rockin' the free food thing. You can't ever get too much of a good thing right?

Check out those kid's faces! Those are some happy kids right there! Oh yeah. Mommy of the year awards are gonna be pouring in for Melanie and I. I know it. I can feel it coming.
The kids wanted to swim after 7/11 so we home, grabbed our suits and headed to Melanie's house. Oooohhh, on the way to her house she just had to show some crazy house. This house is out of control! Are these people stuck in Mardi Gras? What is wrong with them? Or am I just not normal? We want to try to trick or treat there on Halloween. I say try cause I'm not really sure that we are brave enough. If any of you know the people who live there, INTRODUCE me! I need to meet these people.

We let the kids swim their little hearts out. This is yet another dream thing for my kids to do. They LOVE to swim and since we do not have a pool, swimming is a real treat.

By the time we finished swimming it was nearly time for Charlie to get picked up so we went home. That's when we decided, why make dinner? We could get free food again. Chick-fil-a had more than one combo meal on the menu. We could try something new. We were going back! And if we were gonna hit up Chick-Fil-A again, then we might as well go to 7/11 too.

Yes, we are cool moms. We don't just spoil our kids we spoil them rotten. Okay so maybe not rotten but we do hook 'em up when we get a chance. Even if it means making a fool of ourselves. I loved that when we went back to Chick-Fil-A, Andrea Heupal was there to help us (she's Tiffany's little sister). Oh, and the kids were able to give their toy back (from their kids meal) and get an ice cream cone instead. And when we went back to 7/11 (with our saved slurpee cups from the first trip) the dude yelled at us and told us we couldn't come back for anymore refills. He said that was enough. We hit our limit, he cut us off. That was fine with us. Two is good.

Ahh, Melanie is my kind of girl. Not afraid to be crazy, not afraid to haul her kids around town, and she knows how to party. She, like me, will also do anything to get the big "deal." We already have plans for Chipotle in October and are planing on making July 11th an annual event. Melanie truly is a friend for-"heifer"!
