Play time

The other day my kids were playing outside and having a good time together. it was a beautiful day and I just felt like taking some shots. Chloe and Charlie (the girl I babysit) I like this one of Derek because he is always so determined. Look at that face! He is the cutest ball player and he can hit too! Seriously? How cute is this next one? They all play together so well. One day they will have a club. . .(okay maybe they already do?) Our neighbor Marissa is so good to Chloe. She helps her with homework and her chores and loves to play with her. In Chloe's words, "We just ove each otherly" This is by far Derek's favorite hair do. He calls it "Shark Hair"

New Beginings

Preston gets to be a Cub Scout! He is beyond thrilled! chief Akayla came to initiate him into the pack and paint his face. Preston loved it. He didn't want us to wash it off. He was hoping to go to school with that on his face the next day. I'm mean cause I made him wash it off in the morning. And nope his chin isn't painted--that's from his mountain bike crash from the day before. Doug took him mountain biking and while trying to avoid horse poop in the way Preston had a nasty crash. He went into shock and Doug was wondering how they were going to get back down the mountain. Preston said he could do it as long as he rode with his pocketknife in his hand so he felt safe. LOL. Chloe is going to be in the pageant again this year and needed headshots. I am too cheap to pay for such things so I took some myself. Here is a sneak peek. I will post the shots we are going to use soon.

You are invited....

Preston and Ikaika (Kai) will be baptized this Saturday. Both boys are so excited. Preston got a quadruple combination for his birthday and the first thing he did was turn to his favorite scripture (D&C 50:41). This is the scripture he reads over and over when he is scared. Preston asked for a red pencil today to mark it. We wish all our family could be here for this special occasion. Enjoy the pictures of the two friends and be thinking of Preston this Saturday. To the family members that are making a trek to be here, Preston is very happy you are coming and can't wait to welcome you! Thank you all for being examples in Preston's life. I know he loves and looks up to his extended family members. We are grateful for you and love you much.

Birthday Celebration

Preston turned 8. Holy cow I feel old. Yikes! His birthday was so fun. For his class at school we kept with the Karate Kid theme and made candy sushi (instead of cupcakes or cookies). Doug brought home some sushi takeout containers for us to stick them in so they looked so official. Each student got one of each kind of sushi. So cute! They were a hit. The first rolls were made from mini cupcakes with cut up candy and coconut. The second rolls were mini white powdered donuts cut in half with a sweedish fish on top wrapped in a fruit roll up. The last were made out of twinkies with sprinkles. Super easy and way too cute.

Preston opened his presents from the family in the morning. The kids wanted to wear their Japanese name headbands that were made for the party while he opened presents. Keeping with the turning 8 theme, Preston got scriptures!
As soon as he opened them he had to rush and turn to his favorite scripture in D&C 50 to make sure it was there.LOL!Preston also got a camel pack for mountian biking. He was very excited. He felt so big. Preston's party was really fun. Te kids arrived, made their headbands, made some candy sushi (the twinkie ones, ate cake and watched Preston open presents, then we watched the Karate Kid. The adults had a blast snuggling their kiddos and watching the movie at the park. All of the kids were glued to the movie! So funny. Preston's cake was fun to make.

Earth Day--according to Chloe

Chloe overheard me talking about Earth Day on the phone to someone. I was talking about all the Earth Day promotions and how I wanted to use some of the giveaways for my Teacher Appreciation Week this year. Anyway, when I was off the phone Chloe asked me what Earth Day was. I told her it was a day that people did things to make the Earth more beautiful. She then told me that she wanted to do something special for Earth Day too. I told her "Great! Go think about something to do." About an hour later I found her outside with her friend on my front lawn very near the sidewalk. They had two chairs and a table set up. They had a sign taped to the edge of the table. The table was COVERED in makeup (Chloe's play makeup). I went out there and demanded to know what they were doing. Chloe told me this, "Well, we are actually selling makeup. But I am not actually going to GIVE them makeup. They are going to pay me a dollar and then I will let them use my makeup or I can just put my makeup on them if they want." "What?? Why are you doing this again Where is this all coming from?" "This is for Earth Day. We are making the Earth more beautiful!"

Wow! That's all I can say. Who would think that putting makeup on people would be a perfect Earth Day contribution? Oh, my!

It's about to get busy!

Birthday season is almost here! But first I am going to make some cute Easter treats for the kids' classrooms. These are the best cake pops ever and you can get the instructions here.
Then comes Preston's birthday! I made his party invitation but haven't even started his Baptism invitation yet. I am so excited for him! I wish everyone could come. His birthday invites turned out cute this year. We are going with a Japanese theme so the invite will have chopsticks and a fortune cookie tied to it with twine. Preston's party will be easy too. The kids will make candy sushi, write their names in Japanese on a headband, and then watch The Karate Kid at the park. Super fun and easy.
Now you are all invited......lol!
I am really excited about Chloe's birthday though. She is having an American Girl Mystery Party! How fun is that? We got the "game" online at the American Girl store for $5 with free shipping. 6 of her older friends (and Preston and I ) will do the script for the other kids. The Mystery is a Molly mystery and takes place on Halloween night. So we are going to have all the guests dress up like it's Halloween and play Halloween games. They will decorate little Halloween bags and even go trunk or treating. Then while they make a craft all their candy bags will disappear and the Mystery will begin. We will add a couple goodies (pencils, thank you card, and stickers) to the bags while they are missing and that will be their goodie bags. The game is really cute. It even comes with very cute clues. I think her party will be a lot of fun. You wanna come?
