Canadian Heritage

Preston had a school project on his heritage. He had to make a time line of his life thus far, write a brief account of how and when his family came to America, and give an oral presentation with artifacts. Douglas' family has volumes of books on their family history. These thick books include pictures, death certificates, hand written letters, and all kinds of other fun stuff. Doug's family also came over on the Mayflower so telling his side was pretty easy and the artifacts were the books we had. My side was pretty easy too, Mormon pioneers and Scandinavians. I didn't have too many artifacts though. We rounded up some Brigham Young stuff easy enough. I decided pirogies and cabbage rolls would be his other artifacts. Preston's presentation went great. I was surprise dhow many kids ate and liked the cabbage rolls. Preston's teacher took all the extras home. She LOVED them. Everyone LOVED the pirogies of course. Chloe had fun helping me assemble the cabbage rolls!

Sushi 101

Douglas had a fun event for his company Bleuknife. I got to go with him to help. The party was so fun. I had fun helping Doug get the hostess gift and participant gifts together. Guest gifts: Hostess gift: So beautiful huh? The party was a riot. The house was decked out in Japanese decor and the hostess had made each guest a Japanese headband to wear with heir name on it. They played a couple of games throughout the evening. Of course one game had to do with Saki bombs! So funny to watch. The guests all had a wonderful time and were so glad Doug could do the event! Yay!

Air borne!

This is Doug's friend Matt (hippie) at the Diamond Bar Skate Park. He and Doug went riding there and Doug got some awesome pictures of him. Check out that air! Sweet! On a side note, Matt spent hours hand painting his bike Leopard print. . .did ya notice?

Preston's New Ride

Preston got a new mountain bike for Christmas from Santa. A couple of days after Christmas Preston and Doug had to test it out of course. They went to Marshall Canyon to ride around. Doug was impressed at how far Preston went. Preston is excited to go on many more rides even though he did have a little crash.

Ringing in the New Year

I wanted to start the New year out with a bang! Douglas had to work and I didn't want the kids and I to do nothing. I wanted us to do something special! Thanks to some good friends and really quick planning we were able to make that happen. The Epperson's, Bentley's, and Farnsworth's set off to ring in the New Year in Hollywood's CityWalk! Wahoo! We ate dinner at Tommys and Subway in the food court, then headed to see the movie Bedtime Stories. After the movie we hung out and watched some 80s tribute band (they were so good) and walked around. Preston found a cool Indian store. You know he was in love. We bought some yummy candy at It'Sugar. Such a fun store. i loved that they had all the candy from my childhood! They even had candy cigarettes. Haha. Of course I had to buy some Fruit Stripe gum. Yum! The kids shopped for awards for themselves. . .
What a fun way to celebrate! We had a blast. Thank you Dottie, Bruce, and Matt! I had fun! Here's to 2009! Cheers!

Hidden Treasures

While looking through old pictures on my computer I found some cute ones that I never blogged. I wanted to post them so we would be able to enjoy them in years to come. Here is one of Chloe at the Epperson's house in March. Every time we are there she plays the piano. She loves it! The next set of pictures I found were ones I took of the kids at the park. I wanted good pictures of their faces to remember them. Plus, Chloe needed some headshots for the pageant. These were taken in February at Sierra Vista Park.

Will, Wei, and Mei came!

Wahoo! One of Doug's very bestest friends in the whole world came to visit! Will and Doug met one night in Provo riding BMX bikes. They have been friends for soo long. Will is awesome and I'm sure he could tell you some crazy stories about Doug....and Doug tells some crazy stories about Will too. Anyway, I babysat Wei when he was a newborn a couple of times. I haven't seen him in such a long time. I had fun seeing Wei all grown up! And Mei is just too cute. Doug and Will took all the kiddos to Downtown Disney for a walk around. I wasn't able to go since I had to work. The kids had a blast hanging out with Will and his kids! What fun! I hope they come back again soon!!!
