Mardi Gras Dinner

Every year Doug's work holds a sales contest for all the servers. They try to sell the most gift cards during the crazy holiday season. The servers who sell the most get rewarded with a sweet meal prepared by Douglas Farnsworth. Now that is a prize. This year's theme was Mardi Gras. Doug grew up in the South and loves his southern roots. This was a fun dinner to put on. I know he liked planning the menu and dishes for this one.

Derek turned 5 1/2!

Derek's birthday is in the summer. This makes it sort of a bummer. This year anyway. See, he didn't have a party cause his birthday was right before school started. Don't be sad, we went to Disneyland for his birthday remember? But, we always throw our kids a bash so we thought Derek needed one too. So we threw a 51/2 party! Derek picked the theme of Club Penguin. I made a cake and made up some funny penguin type games. The kids had a snowball fight (with paper snowballs on the trampoline), played in the snow (shaving cream on cookie sheets with little toys), ate snow cones (yes it was hot enough), and built there own igloo (with sugar cubes and frosting). The kids had a lot of fun and Derek was so excited to have a party! Next year I hope we can just do it a week late (which would be the first week of school). I figure people would know us well enough then that they'd let their kids come over for a party.

Rainy SRC Race

Check that out! It was pouring!! There were some parts that the water was up to Doug's waist (on his bike) and he is not a shorty! Crazy huh? Chloe and Derek came with me to support him and were total troopers. They loved that the water was up to their knees. They wore their ski pants and boots. Thank goodness. They played hard core in the rain the whole time. Preston was at a friend's house. Chloe was mad that the kid's race was canceled though. She wanted to race in this just like daddy. Nuts! Doug placed 3rd again! Wahoo!
