So apparently Preston wants new school shoes and backpack that he can pick out without Doug and I's opinions. He has been brainstorming how he can earn his own money to accomplish this very thing. Preston's first idea was to mow lawns. Good idea right? I told him that was fine he could have Dad teach him how and then I could help him make a business flyer. Well after spending a good half hour or so in the 100 degree weather with Doug today he decided the "lawn mowing" business was not for him. "Too hot and too hard", he said. So he sat around and thought and thought. Then he came up with this plan (which we finally, reluctantly, agreed to--he got points for creativity):
---for some reason blogger is not uploading his flyer! *Darn* Anyway, he is having "Preston's $3 Thursday" A family fun movie night. $1 a person or $3 a family. He is also selling $0.25 kool-aid and popcorn and $0.50 hot dogs. He is showing Pink Panther 2.
So yeah, funny huh? If anyone wants to come....head on over on Thursday! Movie starts at 8:30pm.
It's here again! Cow Appreciation Day! If you missed it this year be sure to mark it on your calendars for next year! We never miss it! Are you kidding me? 5 free meals? That's what I'm talking about. This day always reminds me of those old Klondike bar commercials. They would ask, "What would you do-ooo-oh for a Klondike bar?" And then they'd show people making fools of themselves in order to get ice-cream. Well there isn't much I wouldn't do for a free meal I guess. Every year I bust out the trash bags and sharpies and make some cow costumes. Then I take my family to eat!
The little queens were in the parade for Ontario. Chloe and Clover were very excited. I got to ride in the car with Chloe so the boys watched the parade. Preston was feeling patriotic so he wore his Cub Scout shirt. He was so excited when he saw some troops in the parade! Chloe and mommy in the parade car
The boys liked the horses too
Everyone was all about the Chik-Fil-A car!
Our little queens
My favorite queen of all
After the parade we had a block party with our neighbors. This was so fun.
We have been counting down for this day. Best buddy came home on June 23rd!! We couldn't wait! I think the kids were a little nervous too. They kept asking us if he would remember them. Silly kids! Jared flew home with another Anziano (Elder) from his mission. Lucky him huh? The two of them decided to wait until everyone else had gotten off first and then come down. They were so tired from their 3 day trek. After waiting what felt like forever we finally spotted them on the escalator.
The escalator ride seemed like it was in slow motion. When Jared made his way to us he had hugs for everyone.
Even Brittany. I guess Jared figured she'd waited two years for that hug so he could bend the rules a bit.
All of us happy folks
Garett Bluhm came too. He served in the same mission as Jared.
